you and I

by Eric Morder

you were a cat
I was a toy mouse.

you were the moon
I was a supernova.

you were a black hole
I was a radio antennae.

you were the mother
of a broken key.

you were a lover
of an inch high man.

you were the store
I was the dollar.

you were the president
I was a bushman of the kalihari.

you were the garbage man
I was the truck.

you were the broken speaker
I was the phone nobody heard.

you were the lipstick
I was the cigarette.

you were my mean father
I was my father’s angry son.

you were me
I was a moth.

you were a moth
I was everything.

About Eric Morder

"Half A Bee," a Buskopolis produced documentary (2009) that features me, small town poet/musician, and my cat Zeusy, is available for sale (indiepixfilms.com look for title, April 2010 release date). it showcases original poetry and songs on guitar/vocals like the kind I have submitted to flaskandpen.com. any longer, I conceive of myself along the lines of the self-made role particular to me during the filming (Aug-Dec 2006). some of my songs are available on itunes (search "Eric Morder." I've spent most of my adult life (now 37) writing and performing. having become employed as an adjunct at a university keeps me in a melieu of language and affords me time, and time spent not switching gears, continuing to write and find homes for my work.
