The Project is a collaborative effort amongst Flask & Pen contributors and readers. The 2008 Project was a twelve-week session, with the manuscript passing to twelve different writers in random order. Our inspiration for this Project was a photograph. From here we launched our adventure, with each writer steering the course for about 500 words.

We are currently organizing the next Project. If you are interested in being involved, you must be a registered member of the site and a past contributor. If you have yet to be a contributor, you must send a writing sample. Contact us at theproject@flaskandpen.com

The way it works. We pick a number of participants. We randomly determine the order in which they will write. Each participant has a week to complete and return, by email, their contribution. You are not allowed to edit or in any way change any part of the story you received. Once returned to us, we send The Project on to the next person. This process continues until the final participants. Readers can follow the progression on the website as we update each new edition. At the completion of The Project, we publish the names of each participant and indicate which part of the story they are responsible for.

Flask & Pen will hold all copyrights to The Project. At this time we are unable to offer payment for any particpation in The Project. By participating in The Project, contributors agree to the relinquish copyrights for The Project.
